To start up, you must first put all your ideas in writing, which is the construction of your business plan. A sample Business Plan format is available under the Forms and Publications section of this website. This document provides an overview of the research and planning required to initiate a new business expansion or an existing business. Again our BRC can also help you in the preparation of this document.

There are a number of fine organizations in addition to HEDCo that can also help you decide if owning a small business is for you. The Connecticut Small Business Development Center, the Small Business Administration, The Entrepreneurial Center, University of Hartford and the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development are some of the agencies that may help you.
